（注）　このコンテンツは高校生向けの試験に出題される発音問題の対策として作られています。　 子音字の多くはローマ字と同じ。　ただし正確に言うと英語と日本語は発音がことなるので「同じ」と言い切るのは間違え。　たとえば日本語の 「ヒ」は英語の[hi] とは異なる。 凡例：　特に出題の多いものに★。　　 -b- 　黙字に注意。 b01 ☆ [b] ローマ字と同じ 例省略 b02 ★ 黙字 climb は常識語。 bomb, comb, tomb の -ombは発音が異なることで頻出。 lamb, limb, climb, thumb, dumb, numb, plumb, comb[bɔm], comb[koum], tomb[tu:m], womb,  -c- 　重要 c01 ★ [k] ca. cu, co： -c，c+子音字の場合 camera, cut, country, economic, class　など c02 ★ [s] ce, ci の場合 science,  incidence　など c03 ★ [ ʃ ] -cious の場合 delicious, suspicious, precious，spacious　など 他に -ceous もそうだが高校生が知るべき単語はない。 c04 ★ 黙字 sc-については別項 muscle -ch- 　最頻出の一つ。 c05 ★ [ tʃ ] 多くの　-ch- (ゲルマン語起源） China, chain, purchase, cheat, charm, chair, chase, chapter,　charter,  porch, challenge, cheat, orchard, chariot, cheetah, chimney, chime, charcoal, cheap, chatter, march, chocolate, change, chest, chat torch, watch, coach, approach, march, lunch, punch, sandwich, bench, which, French, search, speech, couch, pouch, touch, such, witch 　など c06 ★ [k] （ギリシャ語起源） anchor, chaotic, chaos, scheme, chorus, echo, archaive, Michael, charisma, chemical, mechanic, orchestra, ache, character, school, scholar,  Christmas, architecture, chemistry, epoch, stomach, monarch, chronic, chord, choral c07 ★ [ ʃ ] 少数の　-ch- (フランス語読みのまま） machine, chef, moustache, chagrin, champaign, chandelier, Chicago, chivalry など c08 ☆ [dʒ] 例外的 [t]でもよい spinach c09  ☆  黙字  例外的 yacht  -ck- 　語尾に [k] が来るときに　-ck, -c, -ch のどれかになるかは語源が関係する。 c10 ☆ [k] 語尾で。 quick, black,  neck など -ic で終わる語に 母音字が続くと　-ck になる。 例：　picinic > picnicked -d- . d01 ☆ [d] ローマ字と同じ 例省略 d02 ★ [t] 無声音-ed stopped,  liked, washed　など d03  ★ 黙字 常識語 Wednesday,  handkerchief, sandwich -dg- . d04  ☆   [dʒ]  -dge の場合  dodge, bridge, lodge など -f- . f01 ☆ [f] ローマ字と同じ 例省略 -g- . g01 ★ [g] ga. gu, go： -g，g+子音字の場合 game, guess, gorgeous, ground　など g02 ★ [dʒ] ge, gi の場合 get, give は例外 gesture, ginger,  huge,  religion　など g03 ☆ [ ʒ ] フランス語起源の ge, gi 重要度なし mirage g04 ★ 黙字 gn の綴り foreign, sign，design, reign, gnaw　など -gh- 　多くは　-ough-  -augh- の綴り。　母音の発音とも関係する頻出の綴り。 g05 ★ [f] 少数 laugh, tough, enough 程度 g06 ☆ [g] 例外的 ghost g07 ★ 黙字 -ough- -augh-の綴りの多く though, thought, brought, bought, caught, taught, daughter -h- . h01 ☆ [h] ローマ字と同じ 例省略 h02 ★ 黙字 hour, honest, honesty, rhythm， exhaust, exhibit -j- . j01 [dʒ] ローマ字と同じ 例省略 -k- . k01 ☆ [k] ローマ字と同じ 例省略 k02 ★ 黙字 kn- の綴り know, knot, knife, knight など -l- 　l と r の区別は日本人が苦手としよく　r と l を混同して書くのは有名。　フォニックスから言うと　[r] と発音するのは　r で　[l] と発音するのは　l で書くので特に例を取り上げることは省略。 l01 ☆ [l] 文字通り発音 例省略 l02 ★ 黙字 walk, talk,  stalk, folk, could, should, would, calm,  pallm, -m- . m01 ☆ [m] ローマ字と同じ 例省略 -n- . n01 ☆ [n] ローマ字と同じ 例省略 n02 ☆ [ ŋ ] -nk- ※ -ng は別項 ink,  sink,  winkle, rank など n03 ☆ 黙字 -mn の綴り autumn,   column, solemn, condemn, hymn -ng- -ng に　ing や er，est などが続くときの音に注意。　頻出。 n04 ★ [ ŋ ] ①-ng で終わる場合 ②-ng +母音字 ③動詞＋ing, er ①　sing, long, strong, ②　finger, anger ③　singer, singing n05 ★ [ ŋg ] ①-ng+子音字 ②形容詞・副詞＋er, est ①　single ， ② longer, strongest, n06 ☆ [ndʒ]     danger, dangerous, endanger, range, spongeなど -p- . p01 ☆ [p] ローマ字と同じ 例省略 p02 ★ 黙字 psychology, psychologist, receipt -ph- . p03 ★ [f] 原則 telephone, elephant, physics -qu-  q は qu の形で使う。 q01 ☆ [kw] 原則 queen, quiet, quite, require, earthquake q02 ★ [k] -que で終わる unique, technique，antique -r- 　l と r の区別は日本人が苦手としよく　r と l を混同して書くのは有名。　フォニックスから言うと　[r] と発音するのは　r で　[l] と発音するのは　l で書くので特に例を取り上げることは省略。 なお母音字＋r の　r を黙字と考えることもできるがここではそのための項目は設けていない。 r01 ☆ [r] 便宜的にローマ字と同じ 例省略 -s- 　[s] と[z]の区別は，語頭の　s 　は[s] だが，そうでない位置にある場合はここに暗記。 s01 ★ [s] small,  soil, case, base, use(名詞）, promise, else, false, sense, など s02 ★ [z] 規則性なし use（動詞），raise, rise,  adviseなど s03 ★ [ ʃ ] 子音+sion, -sure pension, comprehension　など s04 ★ [ ʒ ] 母音＋sion decision, conlusionなど -ss- 　possess  は頻出。 s05  ☆  [s]  -ness など 多数 possess, kindness，express　など s06  ★  [z]   例外的 possess,  possessionなど s07  ☆  [ ʃ ]  -ssion,-ssure possession, admission，pressure　など -sc- . s08 ☆ [s] 例外的 science　程度 s09 ☆ [ ʃ ] scio, scie conscious 程度  s10 ☆  [sk] sca, sco, scu の場合。 schも同じ  scared, scotland, scuba, school, scholar　など -sh- . s10 ☆ [ ʃ ] ローマ字と同じ 例省略 -t- . t01 ☆ [t] ローマ字と同じ 例省略 t02 ★ [ ʃ ] -tion, station， association，prodction　など t03 ★ [ tʃ ] -stion question, digestion，suggestionなど -tch- . t04 ☆ [ tʃ ] watch,  kitchen, sketch など -th- 最頻出の一つ。　　圧倒的に[]が多いので　[ð]　の語に注目するのがコツ。　派生語で発音が変わる以下の語に注意　（左が　[]　右が　[ð]）　 bath -
